“Toward a Better Society” International Report Launch Event (April 24, 2025)

Activity Report

An international release event for the report “WELL-BEING AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT DRIVEN BY CULTURALLY SENSITIVE POLICIES: FROM PSYCHOLOGICAL RESEARCH TO ACTION” was held on April 24, 2025.

The event was co-hosted by the World Citizen Education Project of the Office of Global Education and the Institute for the Future of Human Society, Kyoto University. It brought together participants interested in the relationship between psychological research and practice, social contribution, and the promotion of well-being.

The event began with the presentation of the international report “Toward a Better Society” (the 2nd edition of the Social Development Report) by Associate Professor Kuba Krys of the Polish Academy of Sciences. This was followed by a panel discussion featuring Professor Yoshihisa Kashima (The University of Melbourne, Australia) and Professor Espen Røysamb (University of Oslo, Norway).

The discussion focused on research in well-being, exploring the relationship between its two dimensions and how the definition of a “meaningful life,” as well as its societal impact, can differ depending on social development, individual values, and cultural contexts.
